About one week into the new school year, Schools Chancellor David Banks discusses what resources the Department of Education is providing to help migrant students adjust, including language instruction and social workers for housing and food insecurity.

The DOE has brought in at least 25 bilingual teachers from the Dominican Republic. In the past, late-arriving students have been sent to lower-performing schools. Banks talks about how the department is ensuring these students get the same resources no matter their zip code.

He also discusses Gov. Kathy Hochul's new class size bill, which limits the students per class to 25 for high schools.
