Ann-Marie Grant, executive director for the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies, and Reverend Dennis Dillion, publisher of the NY Christian Times, join “In Focus” to celebrate the Caribbean diaspora.

AFUWI facilities higher education as a pathway to progress in the Caribbean and the United States. Grant discusses the work the foundation is doing to transform the lives of young people in dire financial circumstances. AFUWI has provided over 500 tuition scholarships to students across the Caribbean.

With a history of transformational leadership and commitment to social advancement, Grant explains how the foundation’s breaking the cycle of generational poverty. She also discusses how the Caribbean diaspora wants to engage deeper with the region.

According to the World Bank, about 90% of the Caribbean diaspora want to engage deeper with the region. Born in Jamaica, Dillion talks about the island’s 60th anniversary of independence from the United Kingdom and some issues currently plaguing Jamaica and other Caribbean islands.

He explains how the NY Christian Times brings Caribbean Christianity to New York City. It provides data on faith, economics and the global African village.
