Brooklyn Assembly Member Latrice Walker joins “In Focus” to discuss all things voting rights. Walker represents District 55, including Brownsville.

Walker, chair of the Election Law Committee, explained what her office’s top priorities are, especially as it relates to voting rights.

As a champion of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act of New York, she explained what it is and how the legislation protects voters here in New York. The legislation restores legal protections against racial discrimination and strengthens parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Walker also discusses where the legislation stands at the federal level.
