Zujeiry Sanchez says she has been dealing with ignored maintenance issues in her NYCHA apartment located in the Claremont neighborhood of the Bronx.

“The pipes are breaking apart. It’s flooding the whole apartment. Our floors are sinking in,” Sanchez said.

That is just one of the many issues she says she has been dealing with throughout the five years she has lived in her apartment.

“It’s just too much. It’s too much and they’re not doing anything about it,” Sanchez said.

In a video Sanchez sent to NY1, water can be seen dripping through her apartment’s vents. She says the pipes in the apartment have broken at least four times.

“When that pipe busted, I called NYCHA. They closed it up and they put tape around it. I have the pictures,” Sanchez said.

After NY1 reached out to NYCHA, a spokesperson sent a statement saying they are working with Sanchez on ”expediting and scheduling necessary repairs.”

”NYCHA staff inspected the apartment today and we are working with the resident on expediting and scheduling necessary repairs, including plumbing, plastering, carpentry, windows, tiling, painting and extermination,” the statement said.

Sanchez says she lives in her apartment with her four children and is growing more and more concerned for their safety and health.

“We just want to live civilized,” Sanchez said. “That’s it. That’s what we want.”
