1. City-run COVID vaccine sites begin administering doses to young children

City-run COVID-19 vaccination sites began offering doses of the vaccine for children 6 months through 5 years of age Wednesday morning across the five boroughs.

The shots are being offered at 10 city vaccine hubs, including Times Square, the Queens Center Mall, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum and Empire Outlets. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will be available.

2. Man found not responsible for Times Square vehicle rampage

A man who drove his car through crowds of people in Times Square in 2017, killing a young tourist and maiming helpless pedestrians, was cleared of responsibility Wednesday because of mental illness.

A jury in New York City accepted an insanity defense claiming Richard Rojas was so psychologically disturbed he didn’t know what he was doing.

3. Hochul campaign touts voter outreach as primary enters final week

The campaign of Gov. Kathy Hochul on Tuesday released a lengthy public memorandum that sought to underscore her efforts to reach out to voters over the last several months as the primary enters its final six days.

The memorandum -- pointing to the millions of dollars spent by the campaign on advertising as well as retail politicking by the incumbent herself -- was released as The New York Times on Tuesday reported growing concerns among Democratic figures in the state over whether Hochul's bid is doing enough to motivate people to the polls.

4. Ocasio-Cortez endorses Archila for lieutenant governor

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez endorsed activist Ana Maria Archila for lieutenant governor over the handpicked running mate of Gov. Kathy Hochul, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado.

The endorsement from Ocasio-Cortez potentially can give Archila a boost with progressive voters ahead of the June 28 primary for lieutenant governor. Early voting for statewide campaigns and state Assembly began last weekend and runs until Sunday.

5. Stonewall National Monument visitor center to open in 2024

A visitor center set to open at the Stonewall National Monument in 2024 will share the history of the Stonewall Inn and its impact on the LGBTQ civil rights movement.

The Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center will open at 51 Christopher St., between Waverly Place and Seventh Avenue South, in “the summer of 2024,” Pride Live, the advocacy organization opening the center, said in a press release. 

6. Biden calls for 3-month suspension of gas, diesel taxes to 'provide families some immediate relief'

President Joe Biden on Wednesday called on Congress to suspend federal gasoline and diesel taxes for three months — a move meant to ease financial pressures at the pump that also reveals the political toxicity of high gas prices in an election year.
