LOS ANGELES — New York Times Bestselling author Taylor Jenkins Reid is on a hot streak.

Her book “Daisy Jones and the Six” has been made into a hit show, and now her book, “One True Loves,” has been adapted into a film starring Phillipa Soo, Simu Liu and Luke Bracey.

“One True Loves” is a classic love story with a modern twist.

Emma and Jesse (played by Soo and Bracey) have the perfect life together until Jesse disappears following a helicopter crash. As the years go by and Emma slowly puts her life back together, she is able to find happiness again and is about to marry her best friend (Liu) when Jesse returns.

As her world is turned upside down again, Emma is torn between two great, true loves. But who will choose?

When he spoke with Spectrum News, Bracey said he knew the movie would be great because the book was a page-turner.

“You can’t put the book down. When reading a novel that you can’t put down, it is a good indication,” he said.

As we all know, taking a beloved book and adapting it into a film is not always a simple task.

“The challenging but also fun part, was taking all of these details that can take pages and pages to explore in a novel and try and distil it in a single moment, in a three second frame, in a closeup, in an establishing shot. There’s a tone and a mood that I think is conveyed in Taylor’s writing, and our job was to translate that into a 100-minute film. It was challenging and really fun,” said Soo.

Like in the film, can one person be in love with two people at the same time?

“I think it is possible. Love takes on different forms and different forms, but you also have to choose love every day,” said Soo.

“One True Loves” opens in select theaters on April 7 and on digital starting April 14.
