The Museum of Modern Art is responding to the travel ban with an unplanned exhibition.

It has put up eight works by acclaimed artists from countries covered by last month's travel ban and some countries with predominantly Muslim populations.

The works on display include text, which reads in part:

"These artworks from the Museum's collection are installed throughout the fifth-floor galleries and The Agnes Gund Garden Lobby to affirm the ideals of welcome and freedom as vital to this Museum, as they are to the United States."

MoMA says it plans to add more works when some newly reinstalled galleries open.

There is no scheduled end date for this impromptu exhibit.
