Congressman Max Rose is officially exploring a campaign to become the city’s next mayor.

Rose made the announcement Sunday in an email to supporters.

The Democrat is leaving Congress after losing his re-election bid to Republican Nicole Malliotakis last month.

Rose filed paperwork in advance of a possible run this week, which allows him to begin fundraising for a campaign.

Rose was first elected to congress in 2018 to serve the 11th Congressional District, which covers Staten Island and southern Brooklyn.

Rose would be joining an already very crowded Democratic mayoral primary.

Candidates officially in the race include City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, former de Blasio adviser Maya Wiley and City Council member Carlos Menchaca.
