NEW YORK - The death of a 3-year-old Harlem boy back in August has been ruled a homicide by investigators.

On August 3, police responding to a call of a boy not breathing found Caleb Rivera outside the Jefferson Houses with bruises on his body.

He died in the hospital two days later.

The medical examiner said in a new report that the cause of death was multiple blunt impacts including injuries to the head and neck.

As a result, the boy's death has since been declared a homicide and police are now speaking with his mother and boyfriend.

It is not yet clear if the city's Administration for Children's Services investigated Caleb's family before his death.

Caleb is the latest in a series of young children killed in the city with allegations of abuse.

Zarah Coombs, 26, is facing murder charges after she confessed to beating her 4-year-old son Zamair to death with a stick on Wednesday.
