Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a man wanted in an attack on a gay couple inside a Manhattan restaurant last month.

Investigators say Bayna-Lehkiem El-Amin, 41, of the Bronx, turned himself in at the 10th precinct in Chelsea with his lawyer Tuesday morning.

He is charged with two counts of felony assault and two counts of attempted felony assault, but El-Amin claims he was attacked first.

Police say he got into an argument with the couple back in May at the Dallas BBQ on Eighth Avenue and 23rd Street and then attacked them.

Video of the fight allegedly shows El-Amin hitting one of the men over the head with a chair.

Witnesses at the restaurant say he also yelled anti-gay slurs.

The victims suffered cuts and bruises.

Outside court on Tuesday, El-Amin's attorney said his client didn't start it.

"Once you see the entire video, you see he is the victim in this case, initially. He is sitting there with his friends eating dinner minding his own business and plain as day gets struck by one of these two individuals," his attorney said.

His bond was set at $75,000.
