Roughly 50,000 people will hit the pavement and run through the five boroughs for the TCS New York City Marathon on Nov. 6.

At the age of 74, the Nov. 6 race will be Benjamin Naverette’s 152nd marathon.

Naverette began running marathons when he was 53. That means he’s completed more than seven marathons a year since his first race.

“Most people cross the finish line and say, ‘I’ll never do that again.’ I cross the finish line and say, ‘I can’t believe I have to wait until next year to do this again,’” Naverette said.

There are fewer than 600 runners over the age of 70 running the race.

“It’s never too late,” Naverette said. He’s also run a marathon in all 50 states, and in other countries as well.

With time winding down to the start of the race, Naverette said the only thing he’s concerned about is crossing the finish line.

“In a way, I do find that I inspire people," he said. "I just wish I would do it more often."
