A historic church on Staten Island has been vandalized.

Police received a call Tuesday night about a shattered front door at the Rossville AME Zion Church, but when a pastor arrived on Wednesday she found a broken window leading into the church basement and a brick. Cops were called to search the premises.

“When I look back at the shattered glass, I don’t see the shattered glass as much as I’m reminded of it’s somebody’s shattered life who did this and the brokenness they must be dealing with to do such an unholy thing," said Reverend Jacqueline Nolton.

Services have been virtual since the beginning of the pandemic.

The church was founded over 169 years ago.
