STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The woman charged with running down and killing two young children in Brooklyn earlier this year has been found dead inside her Staten Island home.

The body of 44-year-old Dorothy Bruns was discovered Tuesday afternoon.

Sources say bottles of prescription pills were found nearby along with an apparent suicide note.

Bruns was facing manslaughter charges after hitting the two children and their mothers in Park Slope in March.

One of the mothers is Broadway actress Ruthy Ann Miles, whose unborn baby later died.

Prosecutors say just three weeks before the incident, doctors told Bruns not to drive for at least one year because of a medical issue.
