A dog show on Staten Island is raising money to help protect police dogs.

The Staten Island Companion Dog Training Club held its 4th annual dog show fundraiser in Tottenville Saturday.

The club donates all the proceeds from this event to non-profit Vested Interest in K9's which provides bullet and stab proof vests to police dogs across the country.

Nearly 50 dogs showed off their talents at the fundraiser by following commands.

"This is just about protecting the dogs. This is about a cause that everyone can unite around. Whether it's because they have family or friends in law enforcement or because they're a dog lover, we're able to draw on both of those communities," said Samantha Scicchigno, event chairperson.

Over the years, the dog show has raised more than 20 thousand dollars.
