A new Miss Staten Island will be crowned this weekend in Castleton Corners.

The 52nd Annual scholarship Pageant will be held at Congregation B'Nai Jeshurun, Sunday.

Thirteen women will be vying for the title and ten thousand dollars in scholarship money.

Organizers say the pageant is a great way to highlight how each woman is trying to improve the community.

"These girls are extremely passionate about their platforms and they will learn how they are trying to futher their education and what they are using their money for and what they really, really stand for and believe in; and how much community service that these fine young ladies do," said Kristina Ferraro, Producer, Miss Staten Island Scholarship Organization.

The ladies will be judged in four catergories; evening gown, swimsuit, on-stage question and private interviews.  The winner moves on to compete for the title of Miss NY.
