A Queens nurse is now back in New York after traveling to Puerto Rico to help those still suffering after Hurricane Maria.

Registered Nurse Nicholas Choi was one eight nurses and four doctors who treated people about 30 miles west of San Juan.

The Forest Hills resident said he helped between 150 and 200 patients a day during his two week deployment that began in October.

Choi said he saw a lot of children and patients with respiratory and eye issues.

"They were unnaturally grateful and upbeat. No one seemed very defeated and that was very inspiring," said Choi

NewYork-Presbyterian sent two teams to help the people of Puerto Rico.
