QUEENS, N.Y. - The NYPD animal cruelty division and ASPCA are investigating after a dog was injured by thumb tacks placed in flower beds in a Queens neighborhood.

Officials say that a man purposefully place thumbtacks in flower beds in front of his property on Hoyt Ave. and 23rd Street to deter dogs from using the trees.

They were mixed in with the mulch and also a garbage pail in front of the location.

One dog did injure his paw but the owner says he's now okay.

Neighbors say this isn't the first time the property owner has pulled this kind of stunt to keep dogs away and that other dogs have gotten hurt.
