QUEENS, N.Y. - A memorial service for late State Senator Jose Peralta is planned for Monday night in Astoria.

His funeral will be held Tuesday.

Dozens gathered in front of Peralta's East Elmhurst office Sunday to pay tribute to the politician.

He died Wednesday at the age of 47.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams was among the mourners.

He asked the community to rally around  Peralta's family.

"We must be there to make sure they get over this bridge. We must be the human bridge as they transcend into the new norm of being without their dad and their husband," Adams said.

Peralta's cause of death is still unclear.

He was elected in 2010, and was the first Dominican-American to serve in the State Senate.
