The creator of an annual holiday season attraction in Queens that's already a world record holder is now trying to break his own record.

The annual Gingerbread Lane at the New York Hall of Science is a village made entirely of gingerbread, candy canes, gumdrops and icing. It already holds the Guinness World Record for largest gingerbread village in the world.

For this year's village, creator Jon Lovitch created more than 1,300 gingerbread houses to break his own record.

Every element must be edible so Lovitch finds creative ways to use candy as his building blocks.

"It's a lot of fun. When it's done, which it almost is, I get to stand here a lot over the next eleven weeks and see just all these people come in and out and look at it, and marvel at it, and photograph, and point, and ooh and aah, and it's a great feeling. It really is, " said Lovitch.

The Gingerbread Lane is free with a museum admission. It will be on display through January 21.
