An art project is making Long Island City a more beautiful place.

The Long Island City Partnership teamed up with Queensbridge residents to transform a handball court into a work of art.

It is all a part of their "Community Arts Connection," an initiative that is working to beautify five public spaces around Long Island City.

The design was inspired by their responses to a survey of what they would like to see change in their community.

"Communities like this, there is nothing really out there for people to look at. If you add pictures that are positive and bright colors it is literally a mind thing, bright colors help your vibe., " said Queensbridge resident Desean Franklin.

Four other murals will be painted around the neighborhood by the end of the Fall.
