A nonprofit is using horseback rides to help people with special needs and disabilities.

GallopNYC runs a therapeutic horsemanship program at multiple locations, including one in Lindenwood, Queens.

Every week, 500 people with various special needs come out to ride.

Jasmary Alfonso-Andaluz of Staten Island says the program helped her deal with multiple sclerosis. Now, she's able to volunteer for GallopNYC.

"I got a spinal chord stimulator implant and I began riding again with GallopNYC this year in February," she said. "This program has helped me with building my core strength, and I've been able to use muscles I haven't been able to use in many years."
