A school's annual football tournament honors the memory of a fallen student, a naval academy midshipman who died in an Amtrak crash.

Beach Channel View School for Research in the Rockaways hosted its 3rd Annual Justin Zemser Flag Football Tournament Saturday.

Alumni Justin Zemser was killed when an Amtrak train derailed in Philadelphia in 2015.

He was valedictorian and captain of the football team, and that's why the school held a flag football tournment, where current students, alumni and faculty competed in his honor.

Faculty members said he exemplified the principles of the school, and family members agree.

"His focus was on making the place that he lived a better place; and that was Justin to a tee. It made no difference how he did it; that's what he wanted to do," said his uncle Richard Zemser.

Money raised at the game will go towards a student scholarship in Zemser's name.
