Some women in Queens are hoping to help children in need stay warm at night.

The Blessed Mother Sodality women’s organization is collecting brand new pajamas for kids in homeless shelters. Donations can be for any age ranging from newborns to teenagers, up to 18 years old.

The organization is also collecting books.

All the collected items will then be donated through the Manhattan-based nonprofit called the Pajama Program, which hands out pajamas to children in transitional housing.

"They don't have the money to buy all the articles that is needed. And we do this because it's a charity that really has to be done," said Ida Hillmeyer, Treasurer, Blessed Mother Sodality at St. Mary Gary of Heaven.

You can drop off the pajamas through May 6th at the St. Mary Gate of Heaven church in Ozone Park on 101st Avenue.
