A Queens teenager is twirling her way towards a world championship title.

Trina Catterson will be heading to the 2018 World Baton Twirling Championships for the third time this August. What's new is the fact this is the first time the 17-year-old is competing as part of the national team.

She compted individually at the Championships back in 2014.  Before that she won the Bronze medal as part of a 2 person team in 2012.

Catterson says she's looking forward to the Championships on and off the competition floor.  "I'm kind of a competitive person but I, uh, really enjoy meeting people from around the country and just having a good time with my teammates."

The World Championships will take place in Florida.

Catterson will then head on to Arizona State University where she will be majoring in journalism.
