An undocumented Bangladeshi immigrant at risk of deportation, while his daughter lies in a coma in Queens, appears to be safe for now.

NY1 was told Wednesday that 49-year-old Mozammel Hoque, a single father of three who has lived in the United States for nearly 30 years, will get an extension for his immigration hearing with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Hoque's attorney went for him to his scheduled meeting Wednesday morning. Hoque must appear at another hearing at Federal Plaza on Friday.

His 19-year-old daughter is in critical condition after a vehicle hit her in Queens on Monday.

Hoque said he needs to stay at her bedside until she recovers, but given the political climate, he is more worried than ever that federal immigration officials will detain him at his next hearing.
