With the "Tide Pod Challenge" circulating on social media, two state lawmakers want to change the way the pods look.

New York Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas and State Senator Brad Hoylman are calling on manufacturers to change the packaging for the laundry detergent to make it look less like candy.

The "Tide Pod Challenge" has become a dangerous trend in which kids record themselves eating the pods.

Last year alone, there were about 10,000 instances reported where young children were injured by ingesting the detergent.

Manufacturer P&G CEO David Tyler released a statement, saying, in part, that ensuring the "safety of the people who use our products is fundamental to everything we do at P&G. However, even the most stringent standards and protocols, labels, and warnings can’t prevent intentional abuse fueled by poor judgment and the desire for popularity."
