Doctors in Queens are circulating information to make sure women in the community stay heart healthy.

Physicians at NYC Health and Hospitals Elmhurst handed out information Friday on how to prevent heart attacks, heart disease and strokes.  Doctors recommend women maintain a healthy diet, exercise and get regular check-ups.

Friday’s information session was all a part of the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” Initiative to encourage women to take care of their tickers.  Israel Rocha from NYC Health and Hospitals' Elmhurst 24 division says "they say the best medicine you can do is to be informed. And so today is our way to give some medicine through information and education."

Next week the hospital will host a panel focusing on men’s health.
