The new head of the city's transit system already has an invitation to address the problems on the 7 train in Queens.

On Andy Byford's first official day on the job Tuesday, Queens councilman Jimmy Van Bramer tweeted "Just read that @NYCTransit President Andy Byford had a flawless morning commute. Congrats and welcome. No such luck on the #7 train right now. I invite Mr. Byford out to Queens for a town hall on our transit nightmare"

The councilman was referring to Byford taking the train Tuesday morning and calling the experience flawless.

Van Bramer says besides the tweet, he did email Byford about a town hall meeting to discuss the 7 train. He has not received a response yet. Queens commuters have dealt with service delays and disruptions and overcrowding on the 7 line for years. They are also frustrated with weekend service disruptions. The MTA is almost done installing new technology on the line that it says will improve service and allow the MTA to run more trains more frequently.
