An Astoria playground named for a police officer killed in the line of duty is getting a makeover.

Officials cut the ribbon on the newly renovated Sean’s Place playground Thursday.

The space off Steinway Street has new equipment, benches and spray showers.

It was named in memory of Police Officer Sean McDonald, who was killed answering a call in 1994.

This was the playgrounds first renovation since 1998.

"It reflects our respect for those who gave to the city and gave the ultimate sacrifice," said Community Board Parks Chair Richard Khuzami.

There is still some work to be done.

The Parks Department is still waiting to install a new surface under the swing set.
