An artist from Queens is turning some old fashioned parking meters into brand new works of art.

Conrad Stojak is taking old City parking meters and transforming them into interactive art pieces. He repainted the meters and installed them at beach 95th Street and Shorefront Parkway.

As for the interactive part, if you put a coin into the slot, something might pop up in the window - like a rising sun or the American Flag.

“Everyone remembers them as parking meters and it's kind of given them a second life and a second look,” Stojak said.

Stojak started the project in January of 2015.

He says after Hurricane Sandy, a lot of Rockaway art got washed away, so he wanted to add some art to the peninsula.

The artist plans to place more of his meters all over the city.
