Senior citizens in Far Rockaway are celebrating their new living arrangements.

JASA, the Jewish Association Serving the Aging has rennovated 700 apartments at the senior housing complex on Beach 19th Street.  Renovations include a new garden, fountain and seating area.

Apartments are priced to help accomodate senior citizens.

"With the aging population and New York City becoming so expensive and people kind of being priced out just economically the government both the city, the state and the federal government really need to get back on board," said Donald Manning, Director of Housing, JASA.

Residents get to tend to the garden themsevles, planting tomatoes, flowers and herbs.
