Catholics in Queens joined millions throughout the world to mark Good Friday, one of the holiest days on the Christian calendar.

Hundreds of parishioners attended a prayer service at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Forest Hills on Friday.

The church held its annual Stations of the Cross service which commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus.

"It's a solemn day. It's a day in which we, in silent prayer and reflective prayer, try to identify with the suffering of Christ," said Bishop Paul Sanchez from Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church.

"I'm going to be here all three masses and just pray and be somber and be thankful for what Jesus did," said altar server Gabriella Kueller.

The church continues prayer service Saturday night and then also on Easter Sunday throughout the day.
