A subway stop in Queens finally got a name that makes sense. At a ceremony, the Briarwood-Van Wyck Boulevard station was renamed to simply Briarwood.

It may be a minor change, but residents and local leaders say it was annoying them for decades, with Van Wyck Boulevard long gone in the neighborhood.

"It's more about local pride, but it's also a confusion factor, because people were confused which subway to go to, and now I think it clears it up, and it'll make for much more efficient transportation,” said Queens Assemblyman David Weprin.

“What the heck is Van Wyck Boulevard? I didn't even know what it was, when this issue was first brought to my attention," said Queens State Senator Tony Avella.

The MTA agreed to make the change, with even the Governor putting pressure on the agency.

The station is also being renovated.
