NEW YORK — At least three people were seriously injured after a fire broke out Tuesday morning inside an apartment building on the Upper West Side.

The FDNY says crews responded to the call shortly after 6 a.m. at a high-rise building located at 133 West 90th Street.

More than 100 firefighters were at the scene.

The flames broke out in the trash compactor room which lead to smoke spreading throughout the building to numerous floors.

They were able to bring the fire under control an hour later.

Three others, including one firefighter, suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
