Overthrow New York launched a vegan fridge on Bleeker and Elizabeth Streets in the East Village. It's stocked with plant-based milk, fresh produce, fruit preserves and more. Health experts say maintaining a healthy diet can help boost people's immune systems and reduce inflammation.

"Just because they're unhoused or just because they're struggling doesn't mean they can't have access to healthy, nutritious food," said Power Malu who is the Community Director of Overthrow New York.

As is the case with all the community fridges that have popped up throughout the city, people can take items or donate them to help keep the initiative going. People can also donate new or gently used clothing at Overthrow's Bleeker St. gym from 10 to seven thirty during the week and from 10 to 2 on the weekends.
