NEW YORK - Midtown is a bit brighter now that the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is lit for ths season.

The area around Rockefeller Center was packed for the 87th annual tree-lighting ceremony Wednesday night.

The 77-foot Norway Spruce was grown upstate in Orange County.

It's decorated with more than 50,000 LED lights, and topped with a Swarovski star.

The event included performances by John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and the Rockettes.

The tree will remain on display until January 17th and will then be donated to Habitat for Humanity to build homes.
