A volunteer organization for young professionals expands into New York City.

The group is called Community Bucket.

Their members are in their 20s and 30s. Organizers say the platform gives millennials the opportunities to to socialize, and give back to their communities.

On Saturday- its New York City members officially kicked off their first event at Father's Heart soup Kitchen in the East Village..

They prepared and served food for more than 600 homeless New Yorkers.

“I think that young people really yearn for a way to connect with other people who think like them and who want to give back, so this is a forum where people can do that," said Alexandra Tenney, President of Community Bucket NYC.

Community bucket started in Atlanta in 2012.
