NEW YORK - The iconic Apollo Theater is set to undergo a major expansion for the first time in history.

The renamed Apollo Performing Arts Center will have an additional two theaters.

They will be located a few doors down at the Victoria Theater Redevelopment Project on West 125th Street.

The expansion also includes 99-seat and 199-seat flexible performance venues, along with office space for the Apollo and its partner organizations.

"We're consistently rooted in our history and our legacy, but we are pushing ourselves forward and pushing ourselves forward means expanding, means broadening our base and offering even more opportunities for artists and audiences alike," said Apollo Theater Executive Producer Kamilah Forbes.

The new space is expected to open in the fall of 2020.
