NEW YORK - Actor Alec Baldwin appeared in court Monday for allegedly punching a man in the face over a New York City parking spot.

The actor was released on his own recognizance in Lower Manhattan.

He said nothing in court as he was arraigned on assault and harassment charges, following a parking dispute in front of his Manhattan home earlier this month.

Police say Baldwin claimed he was trying to park his black Cadillac when a man driving a station wagon pulled up and took the spot.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Baldwin has denied the allegations, calling them "defaming" and "clickbait media".

He is due back in court on January 23.
