NEW YORK - Health officials are investigating two cases of Legionnaires' Disease at two buildings in Hell's Kitchen.

The Health Department is testing the water at 535 West 51st Street and 540 West 52nd Street to check for Legionnaires' bacteria.

Two people were infected back in July and were taken to the hospital.

They have since been released.

People catch Legionnaires' by breathing in water vapor that has the bacteria.

Residents of the two buildings are being urged to avoid using hot water for the time being.

"There's a lot of frustration with some tenants that are much elderly that cannot use the bathtubs. You know, I'm one that has issues myself where I can't really use the tub, I like to use the shower. So I use certain gadgets not to use the hot water," said one resident.

Older people are more susceptible to Legionnaires' disease.
