Police say they have arrested a man accused of hitting another man with a pipe on the subway.

The NYPD says 35-year-old Geovannie Nieves is charged with felony assault with a weapon.

Authorities say cellphone video shows Nieves arguing with the victim, then standing up and swinging a pipe at the victim's head.

It happened on a southbound 2 train near West Broadway and Chambers Street Saturday night, police say.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a fractured skull and broken eye socket. He is expected to recover.
