The Department of Transportation worked to fix multiple malfunctioning traffic lights across the city Saturday.

Early Saturday morning, lights at many intersections started flashing yellow and red due to a disruption in a routine software upgrade, something typically done on weekend nights.

Eric Phillips, a spokesperson for Mayor Bill de Blasio, said less than 5 percent of the city's traffic lights were affected.

The Transportation Department told drivers to make full stops before proceeding at flashing lights while contractors work to make them operational.
