A battle is brewing in Midtown over a plan for a homeless shelter just steps from high-end apartment buildings known as Billionaires' Row.

Some residents came out Thursday night to a community board meeting to criticize the proposal for the old Park Savoy Hotel on West 58th Street.

The de Blasio administration recently announced that it will turn the building into a homeless shelter for 150 adult men.

It's part of the mayor's efforts to build 90 shelters across the city.

Residents who spoke out said they either oppose the shelter or the lack of community input that went into selecting the site.

"I think it's dangerous and scary to have 150 men, homeless men, right next door to our building," said one resident.

"Many may have drug problems, many may have mental health problems and we know we know they all have a lot of free time on their hand," said another resident.

"The Chandler and the Park Savoy have set the pattern - a Machiavellian scheme in which plans are concealed and community input is deliberately avoided," a third resident added.

The Hotel Chandler is another shelter in the area that recently opened up. The Mayor's office says it will meet with the community in the coming weeks to discuss the plan.
