A tourist was injured Tuesday after being struck by a wooden hammock while walking down a sidewalk in Lower Manhattan.

It happened just before 5 p.m. on Church Street near Park Place.

Police say a 48-year-old woman and her husband, who were visiting from England, were walking when the hammock came off a building at 110 Church Street, hitting her on the head and back.

Police say the woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to be recover.

Her husband was not injured.

It is unclear what caused the hammock to fall.
