It's the end of an era in Manhattan as Tekserve is reportedly about to power down for good.

The independent Apple retailer and service shop on 23rd Street is set to close in the coming weeks after nearly 30 years in business.

Tekserve specialized in Apple products before there were actual Apple Stores.

It became a popular gathering place for Apple enthusiasts, and also featured a large collection of vintage computers.

Tekserve says the growth of Apple and rising rents are behind its decision to shut down.

The service center will close at the end of July, and the retail store will close on August 15.
