The Advocacy group Transportation Alternatives rallied on Saturday calling for the completion of protected bike lanes, like the ones you see here on Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn.

City Council members Brad Lander and Carlos Menchaca are also joining the group.

Protected bike lanes have already been added in sections of Fourth Avenue in the Sunset Park and Park Slope neighborhoods.

Advocates now want the lanes to be extended south to Bay Ridge and north to Atlantic Avenue.

There have been 27 cyclist deaths in the city so far this year, that's up from just 10 in all 2018.
