Some tenant advocacy groups are finding support in their efforts to fight against gentrification and tenant harassment.

Nearly $200,000 in funding was handed over by New York State Senator Jesse Hamilton (D-NY) to several tenant rights groups in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens on Friday.  The funds are aimed at helping groups assist tenants in housing court and preserve affordable housing.

Eve-Lyn Williams, a longtime resident of the neighborhood, says the money will also help combat displacement in the borough "it helps the organization to give them the tools to work with the tenants. In this neighborhood, it is so hard. The gentrification is so blatant."

The Flatbush Development Corporation; Fifth Avenue Committee and the Legal Aid Society are among the organizations that will receive the funding.
