Brooklyn residents rally against changes to a bus line in their neighborhood.

Business owners and residents held a protest against a plan to change the B82 line to select bus service in Gravesend on Sunday.

It would lead to the creation of a dedicated bus lane and in turn reduce street parking during peak travel hours.

Locals fear it will lead to fewer customers at businesses along Kings Highway.

"Our small businesses will go out of business. And this will become a commercial roadway. It will change the flavor and complexion of our neighborhood forever," said Linda Ebani, President, Kings Highway Beautification Association.

This past week a spokesperson with the Department of Transportation told NY1 as a result of this plan, the department will add more than 40 new parking spaces to the area. Officials also say similar changes in other communities actually showed businesses increased their sales due to an increase in bus ridership.
