The Brooklyn Community Pride Center has received and award for 120 thousand dollars from the New York Community Trust.

The grant is for an eighteen-month workforce development and internship program for LGBTQ plus young adults aged18 to 24.  The program aims to help train and place 30 participants in internships.  Those involved are hopeful that will lead to finding a job. Organizers say a lack of support from home, school, and church are some reasons why the community's youth can struggle in the job market.

Floyd Rumohr, Executive Director, Brooklyn Community Pride Center says "our kids are out there and they are not able to compete for these jobs..not because they are not skilled, or not potentially skilled, but because these other supports are just not there."

The center is the only LGBTQ plus center in the borough.
