You might not know this, but sharks are breeding in our backyard and now researchers are trying to study their habits.

Research group OCEARCH currently has a boat docked at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The vessel is being used to track, tag and study great whites in order to find out where they live and feed along the East Coast.

The latest findings suggest a home not far from the five boroughs.

"Right below Long Island we tracked some of our giant mature females that we tagged in Cape Cod in '12 and '13 and that was some historical kind of research and we were able to come in and tag nine young of the year white shark pups," said OCEARCH Founding Chairman Chris Fischer
